Gionee Elife S5.5

The Chinese phone manufacturer Gionee has come forth  with it's brand new mobile, Gionee Elife S5.5. The mobile is presently available in Asian and Chinese markets only. The mobile is a marvel in terms of it's hardware features and it also comes at a decent lower end price. Will this mobile be a master piece?



The Gionee Elife S5.5 is stunning device and is super slim build. It is just 5.5 mm thick which makes it the thinnest device out there. It is also quite large in dimensions.  It is 5 inch large with stunning display.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with a stunning display of 5 inches Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 X 1920 at 441 pixels per inch. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The viewing angles are also excellent.







The hardware features are quite huge in this mobile. The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with 1.7 GHz MT6592 Octa core processor assisted by 2 GB RAM. Well the features are appealing to ears but will this out perform others in terms of performance! Well I guess it will but I noticed a slight lag during usage while scrolling through screens at home screen and also during opening of different menus and settings in the mobile. I guess this is due to Gionee's custom skin that is dragging back the mobile. The mobile was very quick while using apps once opened.

The mobile is made of aluminum like unibody like design protected with glass coating at the back. The top end has micro usb cable slot. The lest side of the phone lodges the volume rocker and power button whereas the right side has the sim card tray. The mobile is available in 16 GB variant without any micro sd card support. Mobile with octa core processor and no expandable memory is a bit of shame. Elife brands come with the same non expandable memory option.

The back side of the phone lodges a 13 mega pixel camera at the top left side with single LED flash. The camera is capable of taking 1080p videos which is a pretty good option. The camera takes brilliant pics as far as I have tested it. There is a 5 mega pixel secondary camera for video calling support and it can shoot video in 720p. 

The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with Android 4.2.2 JellyBean which I didn't liked much when most of the mobiles are coming with latest version of Android, KitKat 4.4. The user interface is tweaked heavily over the stock android which makes it pleasurable to use. The battery capacity is 2300 mAh which is also low for such huge hardware.

Early Verdict:
The Gionee Elife S5.5 is a pretty decent mobile in terms of specs and features, but the lack of memory card option and less battery capacity are negative aspects of this phone. But still this mobile is a wonderful mobile and has an excellent premium design.
