Virus Shield - Fake Application on Google Play Store

Many Antivirus programs are available for Android devices in Google Play store. One of them is Virus Shield which is available at $3.99. The developers promised that this program will protect Android devices from malware, virus, and spyware. They also promised that this app have the capability of blocking ads. With these promising features the App quickly listed as one of the top app in Play Store. The app proved to be a fake application that does nothing. The developers (Deviant Solutions) have allegedly created this app for a scam.

Even I wondered how they got an average rating of 4.7 from nearly 1000 ratings. This app does nothing but changes the red colored 'X' mark to green " by tapping once. With several complaints by users and also by the famous 'Android Police" Google has removed this app from the store. The developers even don't have an official website.

Google promised to make amends by giving back $5 credit to users who have downloaded this app by which they can download any other paid app from the store. This credit cannot be used to buy movies, music and books. Thanks to Google for making such amends.
