HTC Butterfly 2: An improved Butterfly

HTC has set some absolute landmarks in the world of smart phones which other companies thrive to be an equal or beat it. Previously HTC Butterfly was one among such smart phones which wowed the world. With beautiful looks, powerful processors and stunning display HTC Butterfly was a huge achievement in history of this Taiwanese manufacturer. Now they have improved their previous Butterfly with a little extra power and size. The new HTC Butterfly 2 comes with features just below to HTC One M8 in terms of build quality and appearance but, in terms of other features it is better than HTC One M8. Lets dig in.

Design:

HTC Butterfly 2 is poly carbonate build and comes in a three color variants - white, red and blue. The white variant has a matte finish on back side whereas the red and blue variants have glossy finish. The matte finish variant makes it easy to hold on while glossy finish variants are finger print magnets.

The HTC branding logo is on the back side along with the 13 MP dual camera system in the middle with dual LED flash. The screen size is 5 inches is the same Super LCD as seen in HTC One and M8. It comes with Boom Sound speakers along with JBL headphones depending on the country the device is sold. The power button is on the top side which makes it little difficult to people with small hands. While the bottom end lodges the micro USB cable slot and 3.5 mm earphone jack. The micro sd card and nano sim card slots are on left side. The intuitive touch is that you need not use a paper clip or a pin to eject these trays. You can use your finger.

Hardware and Software Features:

The HTC Butterfly 2 comes with 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Soc accompanied by 2 GB RAM. This is somewhat similar to HTC One and M8. The battery is juiced up to 2700 mAh. It also supports 4G LTE connectivity support which is a good feature.

It runs on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat over HTC Sense 6 user interface with Blink feed. The camera has decent apps namely UFocus with which you can change the focus point. Interestingly the depth sensor is performed by secondary camera. The camera performed impressively well in day light/well lit conditions but the low light photos are not impressive and had quite noisy.

Day to day usage was blazingly fast without any lags. Daily usage of regular apps was buttery smooth. It also scored very high benchmark scores.

Conclusion:

The HTC Butterfly 2 promises outstanding features which set a new land mark in terms of performance and features. Though it does not have premium feel like HTC One and M8, it is not easily ignored and is one of the top end models from HTC.

Soon we will come with in depth review about HTC Butterfly 2.
