Tips to Increase battery life of your Android mobile

Battery backup is most critical in every Android phone. It is widely attributed by many Android users that battery life is what they consider before buying a new mobile.

Now a days most of the mobiles come with replaceable batteries or two batteries so that we can replace with other when the user battery runs out of juice. A case study proved that many users expected a better performance from their battery while they travel long distances. Battery should last until they reach their destination. Let us look at few tips that boosts up the battery life of your Android device.

  • Use original charger. Never use a faulty or duplicate charger. Always use the original charger that comes with your mobile. Faulty or duplicate chargers will damage the battery as well as the touch screen of many mobiles.

  • Avoid live wall papers. Live wall papers will drain battery very quickly and also consumes lot or RAM which will decrease the performance of your mobile. Use static background wallpapers instead.

  • Keep the background apps to a minimum. Do not allow background apps to access Internet always, even when your screen is locked. Use minimum number of apps that use Internet when phone is idle or locked. Use task killers that automatically kill background apps.
NOTE: Do not use too many task managers or battery saver applications. Use any one of them which suits you better. Some cache cleaner apps come with RAM optimization options too. But these apps may do the other thing rather than speeding up your phone as well as battery for some old devices.

  • WiFi consumes less battery than your mobile network. Better browse or surf through world wide web over WiFi (when available) than on mobile data.

  • 3G drains battery quickly than 2G. For simple email checking, whatsapp, updating status etc use 2G instead of 3G.

  • Play games (other than online games) by turning off the mobile data and WiFi. These games you play will access to Internet for ads and updates.

  • Use apps that will help to increase your battery life. Juice defender is one of the best app that helps battery last longer.

  • Disable location options and enable it when necessary. Disable wireless network positioning and GPS by navigating to settings -> location and security.

  • Adjust brightness to optimum or to auto. Reduce brightness from maximum to a lower level.

  • Disable applications from using your location in background. Disable mock locations by navigating through settings -> applications.

  • Disable key sounds. Disable audio on phone dialer, lock screen sounds, keyboard typing.

  • Avoid unnecessary notifications in notification bar.

  • Disable mobile data, WiFi and bluetooth when not necessary or while you sleep.

  • Disable windows animations from  settings. This will increase your battery life along with performance of your mobile.

  • Avoid useless widgets. Uninstall high memory occupying wallpapers, themes, apps.

  • Disable auto sync of your applications and better sync once in a day manually.

  • Root your phone to explore additional options which will help you in tweaking so that your battery life increases. Tweaks such as governing CPU speed (Overclocking or under-clocking), installing custom ROM helps you enhance the battery life. Though rooting will void your warranty there are plenty of beneficial options which out number disadvantages.

  • Enable power saver mode whenever phone is idle or not in use especially while you are traveling. It will make phone last long enough to meet your requirements.
CONCLUSION:

Android battery is not super power battery. Don't expect good backup with heavy usage. Know about your phone, CPU and battery. Don't overload your device. With decent and smart tweaks you can increase your battery life and enhance the performance.
