Oppo A57: Another Selfie Expert

Oppo has released mobiles which are more selfie camera oriented than other segments like performance and hardware. Oppo A57 is no exception to this and is also a selfie oriented smartphone with a 16 megapixel front facing cameral. It is a mid ranged budget phone with average to below average specs and features.

DESIGN, SPECS AND FEATURES

The Oppo A57 is made of plastic but yet it still feels like metal and has curved edges making it easy to hold. The screen is a 5.2 inch IPS TFT display with a resolution of 720 p. While many phones in this range come with a full HD display (1080p) it's a shame that this phone comes with only HD display.

The power button along with hybrid SIM card slot are on right side. The volume rocker is on left side. The home button on the bottom of the screen has finger print scanner. The back side of the phone has 13 mega pixel camera with LED flash and the secondary camera is a 16 mega pixel shooter. The aperture size is good for front facing camera (f/2.0) than the rear camera (f/2.2), which explains that this phone is good for selfies.

The Oppo A57 is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor accompanied by 3 gigs of RAM. The battery capacity is 2900mAh. The phone is slim at 7.65 mm thickness and weighs around 147 grams. It comes with internal memory of 32 GB and is expandable. The dual sim slot is a hybrid sim slot.

The phone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with an expected upgrade to Nougat. But watching the UI, I feel like the software UI is inspired by Apple. It is clearly appreciable in camera UI. It obviously mimics iPhone. The 'settings' icon is a the dup of the settings icon seen in iPhone.

VERDICT

The Oppo A57 has made concentrating only on selfies and they forgot everything else. Many mobiles in this price range offer excellent features like the snapdragon 645 processor, full HD display and many more. So if you are selfie obsessed this may be the phone for you but on the note, there are many other phones with great secondary cameras. My final verdict is AVOID.
