Samsung Galaxy S II Plus - Review

After two years of the release of Samsung's revolutionary flagship Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung retouched and remodelled it's initial master piece. The former mobile took Samsung's name and fame to a high line which is evident that the S II landed in more than 40 million pockets.

The initial flagship astounded users by it's crisp stunning AMOLED display, super fast performance and brilliant quality.

Now Samsung has redefined this master piece with a new look and some upgraded features.

Usage:
Samsung Galaxy S II Plus comes up with latest Android 4.1.2 Jellybean with Samsung's TouchWhiz. The OS has pleanty of options over stock Android. It has some similar features of Galaxy S III like smart stay. The applications run pretty smooth without any major hicups. Thanks to the new processor. Unlike the S II which had Exynos processor, S II Plus has Broadcom's SoC processor. This is quite similar in performance with the former.

Browsing with stock browser is pretty cool with lot of options like saving the page for offline reading. You have to manually install Adobe flash since it is missing. You can also change the type of view from mobile to desktop on the web pages.

The battery lasted for more than one and half day without charging with average use of internet, messaging, facebook, calls and multimedia. I was pretty satisfied with it's battery performance.

Camera, Viedo and Multimedia:

S II Plus comes with 8 Mega pixel camera with dual LED flash. There is no hard camera button though. You can take brilliant pictures in day light but some pictures where not detailed to the point in the dim light. The colors were little over saturated but are very crisp and vibrant to watch.

You can record HD videos with 1080p resolution.

The video support was also not up to the point. 1080p videos can be played without any issues but the types of video formats supported by the mobile are very few. You can view videos through air view like in Galaxy S III, with a small box hovering over the screen while you can navigate through different apps and folders.

The music player is similar to that of S III with mood based player. It has 7 presets with extra bass, reverb features. But the feel and experience of the music player is quite stockish.

 Final Verdict:

The redefined Samsung Galaxy S II Plus is not actually redefined. It's like old wine in new bottle. There aren't much any upgrades in this new flagship except with some additional features like smart stay, air view of videos, latest Android JellyBean and UI (over old S II) there's nothing new except these in this mobile. With almost similar price of old S II this piece is similar to Galaxy S II but with little superior features. People looking to upgrade their old S II within the similar budget can go for S II plus. Other than that there's nothing trendy in this mobile.
