How to Recover Soft Bricked Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo v, now only Sony Xperia Neo V was an excellent mobile from the Sony brand line. With some extra ordinary features like good speed and performance, decent camera and excellent loud speaker, this mobile won heart of many. Coming to the point! The latest version available so far for this mobile is Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4. This version is too old when compared to the latest version, Android KitKat. Installing a custom ROM with better features, performance and addons will make this mobile much better. Installing a custom ROM have many risks as well as many advantages. One of the most common risk is, soft bricking or stuck in a boot loop with Sony logo.

This will generally occur because of incompatible ROM or wrong kernel or may be you have followed the procedure in a wrong way during flashing the ROM. So the procedure to get you out of the boot loop is quite easy when you know the trick. So let us know how to recover Xperia Neo V from boot loop or soft brick.

  • Install all the required USB drivers of your mobile. You may have already installed these while flashing a custom ROM though.
  • Download the Flash Tool from here.
  • Install the Flash tool to your system. Preferably to C:\Flashtool
  • Once you have installed the flash tool open the folder "drivers" from the flash tool folder and run flash-tool drivers setup file. Install all the necessary drivers from the list of drivers provided by setup the file. By doing this you will install all the necessary drivers of your mobile in case if you have missed any while flashing the custom ROM.
  • Now download the latest compatible base ROM for the device. I would suggest you to download the LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716) version for your mobile. Download this ROM from dev-host. Extract the contents of the zip file and place them in "firmwares" folder in the installed flash tool folder location.
  • Now open the Flash tool and hit the flash button (lightening symbol) and choose Flashmode.

  • Select the firmware you have downloaded above and check the boxes "wipe data" "wipe cache" and "no final verification" and leave the rest unchecked, hit OK.
  • Now switch of your phone by removing the battery. Reinsert the battery and connect it to the PC by holding the back button which will connect your device in flashmode. You can see green light glowing on your phone's LED.
  • The process will continue and the official base ROM will be flashed on to your mobile. Once the procedure is completely done unplug your device from the computer and restart it. Your mobile will reboot as a new mobile and you can customize the options on the user start up.

I hope this guide helped you from recovering your soft bricked Sony Xperia Neo V. There are lot of ways to recover a soft bricked phone but this is the simplest and the easiest way to recover. The other way to recover is with via Sony PC Companion. But this process will work for only unmodified version of your OS. If you got stuck in a boot loop while flashing a custom ROM, this official process will not help you.

    1) Open PC companion and click on start button of Support Zone
    2) Then click on "Phone/Tablet Software Update
    3) Then instead of clicking on continue, click on "repair my phone/tablet" which is
    mentioned in note
    4) click continue when you are asked to connect your computer to a power source
    5) Click on phone model and next
    6) Then click Continue
    7) Tick the check box and next

Then after your computer is prepared for software update just follow the instructions.

  4. I have a Xperia Neo V stuck in bootloop. The thing is it wasn't rooted and was running stock rom. It still got stuck in a bootloop somehow. Can this method be used for such a device too? Since, the bootloader is not unlocked in my device?
