Nokia Lumia 930 - Hands On
The Windows Mobile operating system is perhaps the
best with Nokia's Lumia series of phones. Now the latest upcoming flagship
Nokia Lumia 930 packs up with some extra ordinary features. This mobile has
slightly larger screen than Lumia 925 and 1020 but smaller screen than Lumia 1520. This makes the mobile
comfortable to hold single handedly compared to gigantic 6 inches screener version,
Lumia 1520.
It is a successor of Nokia Lumia 925 in terms of
features and specifications. It has better and advanced features than 925.
The most impressive part was the design of this
phone. With unibody metallic design this mobile looks very premium compared to
their previous plasticly build models but not as much premium as HTC One and
M8. The phone is also very comfortable to hold and operate with a single hand.
The power and volume rocker keys are located on the right side of the phone
along with camera button. This makes t easy to lock/unlock screen and also
comfortably use the volume rocker buttons. The usb charging slot is located on
top of the mobile and the 3.5mm ear phone jack is located at the bottom. I
guess the ear phone jack location will frustrate many music lovers. Overall the
device is very comfortable to hold and operate is single hand.
The display of Nokia Lumia 930 is a stunning complete HD display with resolution of 1020 X 1920 pixels. The pixels per inch is 441 which makes one of the brilliant and vibrant displays available in mobile world. The display is Oraganic LED (OLED) and scratch resistant. It is quite pleasure to watch HD videos and movies on such a brilliant display.
The 20.7 pixel Pure View camera is the trademark of
the Nokia Lumia series. The Pure View technology incorporates one of the best
camera technologies available out there. The images are crisp, clear and
amazing to view. The camera takes video in HD and it's not only HD video, it is
Full HD. There is a lot of difference between HD and Full HD.
The other camera features include optical image
stabilization which is one of the key features in present mobile cameras. The
OIS technology helps to take images without any blur and noise. Other camera
features include Carl Zeiss optics, Dual image capture, face detection, smile
detection, 6-lens optics, back side illuminated sensor, 2X high resolution zoom
and many more.
There are four microphones for Nokia Rich Video
recording which you can see in Lumia 1020 and 1520. The secondary 1.2 MP camera
can also record HD videos.
The Nokia Lumia 930 is powered by 2.2 GHz quad core
Snapdragon 800. Many latest mobiles are coming with the Sanpdragon 801 while
Lumia 930 is with 800. The Snapdagon 801 is faster and battery efficient than
800. The 2 GB RAM assists the processor which is enough juice under the hood.
The mobile comes with 2420 mAh battery which is
pretty low compared to latest Android flagships and the Snapdragon 800
processor which is not very battery efficient. But yet the mobile will last for
one complete day with moderate use of data, videos, music and games. I have
noticed a little heating while handling few games but it is negligible.
There is no expandable memory card option which
disappoints many multimedia users. The mobile comes with latest Windows OS, 8.1
which is a decent addition.
Early Verdict:
The Nokia Lumia 930 is a full Windows mobile, with
complete features and specs that a Windows mobile can offer. With the decent
Full HD display, premium build-up and latest Windows OS, the mobile is a pretty
good competitor for Android and Apple iOS.
But the lack of expandable memory, slower processor
(compared to latest flagships that come with quad core processors) and absence
of navigation keys on the screen are few odds of the mobile.
Yet the Nokia Lumia 930 is
brilliant mobile with almost all latest specs and features.
