Android smartphones may get messaging app similar to iMessage of Apple

The messaging system of Android is very old and follows an old methodology. The Android SMS system is cluttered and has many restrictions. Recently XDA developers have discovered a code in the Android operating system which indicates a messaging app now comes with new Rich Communication Services or RCS. They found this new feature in Android Messages app version 2.9

The developers were able to incorporate the features in mobile and it was obvious it had many bugs. But the new feature will enable many features for the Android operating system. With this feature, you can send messages through desktop browsers by simply scanning QR Code. This means you can send SMS simply from your browser without using your mobile.

You can also send rich images, GIF's, audio, video and much more through this new messaging feature. The developers also stated that with RCS in Android, you can send payments through messaging. Though it is unknown exactly how it works, it is believed that it works by integrating with Google Pay.

The new RCS enables features such as smart reply, sending SMS over WiFi, read receipts, real-time viewing of responses etc. Android users desperately need an update for stock SMS app. With heavy competition from other apps such as IMO, WhatsApp, Telegram, Line etc, the stock SMS app needs some extra features which make the app more interactive and also satisfies the users.

Check for the latest updates in Play Store and you may get the update very shortly.
